Now going into year two, Bridgton’s Standard Gastropub, continues to inspire and not disappoint. The ever-changing and creative menu offers regular dishes as well as daily specials. The attention to both food and beer is the reason Lakes Region residents and visitors return for Alvah John­son’s deliciously inventive food.

Not to be overlooked is the immense beer selection curated by William Holmes. Holmes’ newly installed tap system now allows for regular “tap takeovers.” On demand tap beer now completes the Gastropub’s beer assortment. On one particular Monday, Rising Tide Brewing was featured in a “tap takeover.” Heather Sanborn, from Rising Tide Brewing, greeted each diner and talked extensively about her and her husband’s devotion to the craft of beer making. Diners were able to consume the last drops of this season’s Rising Tide’s Maine Island Trail Ale along with other Rising Tide beers. Other tap takeovers have featured Peak Organic and Bunker Brewing. All three of these breweries call Portland’s East Bayside area home.

The menu on Tuesdays often features $3 tacos. Arrive early to enjoy Taco Tuesday as the chicken, brisket and pork tacos frequently sell out. The wings remain a favorite along with the grilled wedge salad, but it is the Standard Burger that rules.
